Coe plans Whipple Fire House dedication and open house

Coe College will host a dedication ceremony and open house for the Whipple Fire House on Friday, Sept. 19, at 1:30 p.m., as part of the college's Homecoming weekend activities. Coe acquired the former Fire Station #3 at 1424 B Avenue NE from the city of Cedar Rapids earlier this year, and the college has renovated and expanded the building into a new residence hall. Coe alums to discuss remarkable 1962 Mississippi service project during Common Hour presentation

Several alumni who participated in a summer service project to the Deep South during the civil rights era will present "The Coe Summer Service Project in Mississippi 1962, One Year after the Freedom Riders, Two Years before Freedom Summer." The Common Hour discussion will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium. It is open to the public at no charge. Read more...
